MEETING MINUTES

Date & Time            Tuesday October 21, 2025 at 6:00 P.M.

Attendees               Danielle, Nicole, Ela, Emma, Athena, Caroline, Mandy, Mekhal, Jodi, Kristina, Christine
                                   Lisa – staff rep.

                                   Shannon – BNA rep

Principal’s Report

Operational:

  • All drills (fire and lockdown) have been successful.

  • Grade 8 trip meeting to be held this week. Location of trip has shifted from Camp Celtic to Tim Hortons Camp. Tim Hortons Camp has similar activities to Camp Celtic, but is significantly less priced and closer to home. The deciding factor for this change came from the equity lens. In 2025, six trips were funded and a lot of students did not attend.

  • Fundraising effort is not going well. Two weeks left until it closes. First week only earned $199.00. School likes to offer different fundraising items to see how well they do.

  • Money for grant from last year to be deposited on Thursday (October 23rd).

Culture, Caring, Wellness:

  • Sports are in full swing.

  • Lego club has begun again. It has become a huge hit.

  • New this year is choir.

  • There is planning for a few different clubs, i.e. craft, drama and chess clubs.

  • Spirit wear orders coming.

  • Christmas Social planned for December 17th . Christmas lunch will be held this day as well.

  • Progress Reports will be emailed on November 3rd. Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on evening of November 13th and the morning of November 14th. Booking information to come for interviews.

Teacher Survey:

  • Survey to teachers went out regarding what they need. If library books were suggested, a request of examples of the kinds of books needed. Asked to prioritize three purchases for whole school and classroom wishlist items (3) and or anything else they would like to let the council know.

  • Big priority ask was outdoor play equipment. Gym equipment was another big ask. Classroom wants were: art supplies, noise cancelling headphones, interactive boards, flexible seating.

Guest- BNA Rep:

  • Branlyn Neighbourhood Association (BNA) sponsors three families to help at Christmas (provides a hot meal and gifts).

  • BNA can provide sports equipment from Growth From Sports (contact: Ross). Brought in four to five of each ball (basketball, volleyball, soccer, football) to Branlyn School.

  • BNA has a baseball and volleyball league for adults and children. They secretly sponsor children’s baseball registration fee.

  • They host a free Fun Fair every year outdoor at the community centre.

  • BNA can possibly come to school’s Fun Fair – doesn’t see them saying no even running a station of games.

  • Events get out to community via social media, word of mouth and flyers hung in various businesses in community.

  • November 29th is Breakfast with Santa.
